Bexley start-up shortlisted for business excellence award

A pair of young entrepreneurs from South East London who count Love Island stars Olivia and Alex Bowen among their clients have been nominated for a prestigious business award just nine months after launching.

Bexley-based Plan It UK, which was set up by business partners Frazer Day, 29, and Harry Dunn 29, in 2020, has undergone rapid expansion despite the challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pair, who both live in Sidcup, learned they had been shortlisted for a Bexley Excellence in Business Award shortly after passing an important milestone – their 150th customer.

Dad of one Frazer said: “We’re so proud to have been shortlisted for this prestigious local award. We set the business up in February this year and have seen phenomenal growth ever since.

“Given the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to support local businesses and we’re extremely proud to have been recognised as a company that provides an excellent service.

“I won’t deny that the pandemic has been tough for us – as it has for everyone.

“But by innovating and creating a Covid secure system where customers can upload all their own measurements without the need for a visit has enabled us to weather the storm and we are going from strength-to-strength.”

Plan It UK provides planning drawings and structural design for home extensions.

The idea to create the company came from a family member looking to extend their home expressing their frustration with the cost and complexity of the process in obtaining some straight-forward home extension plans.

Notable customers include Olivia and Alex Bowen from Love Island who hired Plan It to create a new eight metre opening for huge slim line frame sliding glass doors to their new kitchen.

Frazer added: “Working with Olivia was brilliant and we were extremely proud of the end result.”
